A multimodal transport operator, also called a non vessel owner common carrier (NVOCC) is a company that provides a one-stop solution to exporters under one single document. They arrange for road or rail transportation from the shipper’s warehouse up to the container freight station (CFS) or port, ocean voyage and also inland haulage up to the destination point. This results in the multimodal transport operator dealing with multiple operators in the transport chain such as road transporters, CFSs, and shipping companies, exposing it to several risks.
