Charterers Liability Insurance

Charterers Liability Insurance affords protection to charterers against various type of liabilities depending on the nature of operations and types of charter party, and can be negotiated accordingly.

A charterer is someone who does not own the vessel but takes it on hire under the Charter Party agreement. Charterers may be manufacturers or traders of commodities who charter vessels for the purpose of supplying cargo, as per their contractual agreement. They could also be companies that operate vessels to find cargo for shipment.

They face risks such as damage to the vessel, loss or damage to cargo, injury to the vessel’s crew, third party liability etc.
